Organic forms and slick minimalism unite

Maarten Bass has impressed me again with his Clay Furniture collection. Produced with industrial clay, hand-modeled on top of metal 'skeletons', surface painted with colored lacquer. http://www.maartenbaas.com/ Bass first came on the scene with his Smoke collection for Moooi. DWR - Design Without Reason

Marc Newson for Dezeen. Voronoi Shelf and Extruded Chair are made of white Carrera marble and are produced in editions of eight...thank god. A very basic 2 dimensional shape while exploiting rare materials is a bit of a disappointment.

Pieces will be displayed at the Gagosian Gallery, 555 West 24th Street, from 25 January to March 3. I will check it out and give an ergonomic report on that beast of a chair.

Treasure clock for U+

Favorite sustainable design project in my portfolio. Limited edition of 200 pieces available in white and black. All 2400 toys were hand picked at Goodwill (second hand store). Fun project that will hopefully generate some press for the U+ studio collection.
